Freda Turner Jones was born September 9th, 1926, the daughter of Otis and Lucretia Turner, near Miami, Ottawa County, Oklahoma. She passed from this life on June 29, 2019 at the age of 92 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin. She attended school at Afton, Oklahoma through her sophomore year, when the family moved to North Miami in the Commerce district and she graduated from Commerce High School in 1944 with high honors. She made the grade to be selected as valedictorian, but because she had only attended there two years, she didn't receive that honor. Following graduation, she attended Miami Business College, graduating with full honors. She made a 100 score on the final test, something that had never been done before. She was then employed by Eagle Picher Mining Company has a bookkeeper in the main office in Miami. Freda and Jack Jones were married on Feb. 9, 1946 and shared 73 wonderful years together. She has given her life loving and serving the Lord and His work, loving and serving family and friends and anyone else with whom she came into contact. She faithfully served the churches pastored by her husband for 43 years. It could be said that she was a full time volunteer staff member. She never worked outside of the home, always being available for her family and friends. Following the 43 years she served with Jack, she has faithfully served at the First Baptist Church in Neosho for 23 years. She enjoyed writing poetry, painting, she was an avid reader and a gifted seamstress. Her family and her churches were her pride and joy. Freda is survived by her husband, Jack of the home; one son, Mike Jones and wife Leslie of Neosho; two grandsons, Joshua Jones and fiancé, Carolyn Murphey of Joplin and Austin Jones and wife, Jordan of Neosho; three great grandchildren, Jaida, Braden and Lauren and other relatives and a host of friends.
