On the 18th of February, the Year of Our Lord 2017, Melanie "Grace" Geib Carr was lifted to Heaven upon angel's wings at 12:23 in the afternoon. In life, she offered complete patience and understanding to everyone she knew, and the love that she gave her family and friends was absolute, and without condition. She passed from this world surrounded by loved ones at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Melanie Geib Carr is predeceased by her mother, Frances Melanie Geib, Lieutenant, United States Navy Nurse Corps. She is survived by her father, Rear Admiral Philip Oldham Geib, United States Navy Medical Corps, (Ret.); her children, Tara Jones and Ross Carr; her grandsons, Lear and Baron Jones; her brother, Philip John Geib; her nephew Philip Oldham Geib II; nieces Sydney Rae Geib and Wesley Grace Geib; and countless members of her extended family and friends both near and far.
With respect to her wishes, a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. She is greatly missed, but we know that she is in our hearts forever, and will continue to live on through her innate virtues of patience and understanding, of peace and love, that we all pray can be bestowed upon us.
