Beloit Daily Call - Beloit, Mitchell County, Kansas - June 8, 1921:
"Old Soldier Dead -- Word comes to Beloit of the death on May 23, 1921, at Jamestown, Arkansas of Jesse L. Knight, for 30 years or so a resident of Beloit. Mr. Knight, who was a native of the state of Tennessee, was 80 years of age the 8th day of last April. He served in a Tennessee regiment during the Civil was and in 1874 came to Kansas and settled on a farm in Cloud county, near Simpson. About 30 years ago he came to Beloit, and had since made his home here, with the exception of periods spent with relatives in the state of Arkansas. For about three years previous to his last to that state he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. M. F. Bland. Last August he went to Jamestown, Arkansas, to visit his sister, Miss Harriett Knight, who survives him at the age of 96 years. He also had a nephew at that place, who helped care for his elderly relatives. Mr. Knight is survived by his daughter, Mrs. M. F. Bland, of Beloit and his son, Dr. L. Knight of Glasco. The remains of the deceased were interred at Locust Grove, Arkansas."
