Obituary: Kenneth “Pete” Earl Peters, age 71, of Weston, WV passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2019, at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH. He was born on September 27, 1947 in Weston, WV, a son of the late Earl Cleo and Lena Elizabeth Persinger Peters. On October 25, 1969, he married the love of his life, Jennifer Moody. After sharing the joys of marriage for 49 years and raising their two children, she will miss Pete dearly. The Coal Hauler Legacy is carried on by his wife, Jennifer Peters; two children: Tracy Diann Duncan and husband, Jack, and Mark Edwin Peters both of Horner, WV; four granddaughters: Taylor Peters Beckner and husband, Tyler, of Weston, Olivea Ruth Duncan of Horner, Makenzie Smith of Ireland and Bethany Smith of Buckhannon, WV; two great-grandchildren: Madilynn Rosalee Beckner and Kora Alice Beckner; two brothers: Steve Peters and Janie of Weston and David Peters of Glenville, WV; sister-in law, Tonya Peters; several nieces and nephews; and his best pal at home or at their camp in Gilmer County, his chocolate lab, Remington. In addition to his parents, one brother, John Michael Peters, preceded Pete in death. A United States Army veteran, Pete served in Germany from 1966 through 1968. When he returned home, Pete began his truck driving and mechanic career with IL Morris before moving earning the nickname “Coal Hauler” at Barbour Coal. Over the years, he worked with many friends at Benny Holden Contactors, Kelly Coal, Echo Valley, Polino Construction and Lang Brothers. He finished his career with Kanawha Stone where he worked on many new roads throughout West Virginia and Pennsylvania. He loved spending time with family on 4-wheeler rides. Pete also enjoyed trips to Petersburg and Moorefield and all day flea markets. His favorite pastime was watching WWE Wrestling or any John Wayne cowboy movie while eating popsicles with Madi. A 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, Pete appreciated the fellowship of Weston Masonic Lodge #10. Family and friends will gather at Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service located at 144 Hackers Creek Road in Jane Lew from 12-3 PM on Sunday, June 30, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM on Sunday in the Pat Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Kenny Kendall officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Garden in Jane Lew. The United States Army will accord full military honors accompanied by Lewis County Honor Guard with Masonic Rites provided by Weston Masonic Lodge #10.
