"WM. CROSE KILLED BY TRAIN - Prominent Thorntown Resident Dies Instantly In Crash Friday Afternoon

William Crose, age about 60, retired farmer, and one of the best known residents of Thorntown was instantly killed shortly after one o'clock Friday when the Ford coupe in which he was returning to his home from his farm southeast of the city, was struck by the one o'clock south bound Big 4 train at the Serum Company crossing, one mile south of town.

The automobile was entirely destroyed and parts of the machine were hurled more than 200 feet into a cornfield. The body of Mr. Crose was carried on the pnot [sic] of the engine until the train stopped at the depot. While the body was bruised, it was not mutilated and was prepared for burial at the Ernest McKern funeral parlors.

Mr. Crose was one of the most lovable men of Thorntown and his passing will be missed. A complete obituary will be printed in the next issue of The Times."
