Services for Elmer Tate (Bill) Baker, 94, of Lufkin, will be held June 27, 2019 at Victory Assembly of God. He will be interred in the Jackson City Cemetery in Jackson, Georgia at a later date.

Mr. Baker was born the son of the late Eva (Shelby) and Will E. Baker. He passed away in a local nursing facility.

Mr. Baker was retired from Dow Chemical Company in Freeport. He was a long-time resident of Jackson, Georgia and resided in Diboll since 2006.

His hobbies included wood-working and golf. He was a faithful member of Victory Assembly of God.

Mr. Baker was a proud veteran of the United States Navy during World War II. He served in the Aleutian Islands on a mine sweeper as a signalman.

Survivors include his wife, Janell Baker; daughters, Glenna Francis, Jenny Sheffield, Judy Pike and husband Keith; son, Garland Baker and wife Helen; brother, Glen Winters and wife Eula May; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 50 years, Iris Faye Baker; brothers, Leroy Baker and Charlie Winters; sister, Lois Winters; and son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Margie Jernigan.
