Deacon Robert Edd confessed hope in Christ at early age. He was baptized at Zion Progress Missionary Baptist Church, where he remained faithful until his health began to fail. Deacon Strong loved doing the work of The Lord and serving as a deacon in the church.
Deacon Strong’s formal education was in the Madison County School System. He was employed with the city of Huntsville seven years and Labor International No. 366 for thirty two years. He loved raising vegetable gardens and livestock.
Deacon Strong was preceded in death by his wife, Glenease Strong; his parents, Earl Strong Sr., and Ruby Battle Strong; two sisters, Dorothy Ann Shelton and Eula Mae Owens; and one brother, Wilder Strong.
He leaves to cherish his memory: three brothers, Earl Strong Jr., Roosevelt Strong (Dorothy) and Dr. James Strong (Mary); two sisters, Irene Foster and Elder Willie Mae Ford (Bishop Jerry) of Huntsville, AL; five brothers-in-law, Willie James Martin of Chicago, IL, Charlie Allen Martin (Frances), Ronnie Martin (Laura), Reverend Cornell Martin (Norma) and James Hambrick (Catherine); two sisters-in-law, Rosie Pickett and Martha Leslie of Huntsville, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
Funeral service will be 12:00 noon, Saturday, June 29, 2019 at the True Light Church of God in Christ( 6380 Pulaski Pike NW Huntsville, AL 38510) with Pastor James Strong officiating. Interment will be in the Valhalla Memory Gardens. Mr. Strong will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.
Public viewing will be held from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 28, 2019 and 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 29, 2019 at the Royal Funeral Home.
