Dickie was a tank driver in the US Army in Korea. He married Deloris Jean Shepherd in Wabash County on September 18, 1954; she died July 7, 2018. He retired from General Tire in Wabash, after working more than 30 years. Dickie was a long time member of the Wabash First Church of God. He never met a stranger and was always willing to provide a helping hand when needed. Dickie enjoyed bowling, hunting, and fishing, along with cheering for the New York Yankees, the Baltimore (now Indianapolis) Colts, and the Purdue Boilermakers.
He is survived by eight children, Walter (Monica) Harrell of Roanoke, Indiana, James Harrell of Lagro, Indiana, Frances (Ed) Napier of North Manchester, Tina (Phill) Eakright and Lisa Schoener, both of Wabash, Lori (Dennis) McCune of Cochranton, Pennsylvania, Susan (Jon) Kramer of Huntington, Indiana, and Christina Harrell of Kokomo, Indiana, 19 grandchildren, and 27 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, son, Kevin Harrell, daughter-in-law, Charlene Harrell, and four brothers, Ernest, Herbert, Herman, and Lester Harrell.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am Monday, July 1, 2019 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Pastor Robb Rensberger officiating. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 2-6pm Sunday at the funeral home.
