Virgie Lee Chick, 92, died Wednesday, March 17, at Hamilton Nursing Home after an extended illness.
Services were Saturday, March 20, at Riley Funeral Home with her grandson Rev. Steve Williamson of Sugarland officiating. Burial was in the Carlton Cemetery.
Mrs. Chick was born Oct. 21, 1906, in the Sunshine community of Hamilton County, the daughter of Joseph Bentley and Addie Diltz Sharp. She was married to Elmer Clinton Chick on May 19, 1923, in Carlton. They lived most of their life in the Carlton community. He preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 1972. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, a brother, a son, Vanderell Chick, and a son-in-law, Fonzy Williamson.
She was a homemaker and loved working and caring for the elderly. She worked in nursing homes as a cook and medication aide. For many years she served as a home companion, helping people live at home as long as they could. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Lauda Mae Williamson of Hamilton; a son, Joe Chick of Sulphur, Okla.; a sister-in-law, Velma Truett Sharp of Hamilton; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Dana Allison, Derel Chick, Ronny Mucha, Marc Chick, Barry Wilkerson and Steve Williamson.
