Central Valley, Utah - Dwayne Parker Bayles, 79 died June 23, 2019 at his home in Central Valley. He was born in Durango, Colorado Aug 19, 1939 to Scott Lyman and Dolores Isabelle Gravelle Bayles.
Dwayne grew up in Blanding, Utah where he graduated from San Juan High School. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a full time missionary in the Central States Mission. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science in Botany. It was there at BYU that he met the love of his life Jill Tippetts. They were married in the Manti Temple Aug 21, 1964 and lived the majority of their life in Central Valley, raising 5 children.
He worked for the Bureau of Land Management as a fire management officer and natural resource specialist for 30 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, raising animals, working on his little farm, and serving the community and others. He served as Mayor of the town of Central Valley for 8 years and was able to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with his sweet wife for the St. George Mission. Other ways that he served was as Bishop of his ward, primary teacher, scout leader and high councilman. But what he enjoyed the most was knocking on your door and lending a hand. His motto in life is found in Mosiah 2:17. “ I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.”
Dwayne is survived by his wife Jill Bayles; sons Kurt Dwayne (Wendy) Bayles, Parker Reid Bayles and daughters Evelyn (Conway) Chidester, Karalee (Jeff) Straw, Jerolynn (Jeff) Bergfeld; 17 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters and brother: Joselyn Dolores (Ferd) Johnson; Peggy Ann (Vee) Palmer; Dorothy LaMay (Dale) Black; Mona Kaye Bayles; Georgia (Ed) Black and Joel Clark (Debbie) Bayles.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Scott Weston Bayles and Dwight Lyman Bayles; one granddaughter: Chelsea Chidester; and one great-grandson: Garrison Kurt Bayles.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. in the Central Valley LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Friday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Saturday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 prior to the services.
Burial will be at 3:30 P.M. in the Sutherland Cemetery in Sutherland, Utah, under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
