Linda Suzann Burke, age 68, lifetime Lapeer resident, died Monday, April 29, 2019. She was born May 9, 1950 in Lapeer, to Walter and Irene (Piorkowski) Rowden.
Linda graduated from Lapeer High School, class of 1968. She married Michael James Burke on September 20, 1969, in Lapeer. Linda worked over 30 years for Lapeer Community Schools as a teacher’s aide in the Intermediate School District, retiring in 2014. Mrs. Burke was an active supporter of the Elba Fire Department and Michigan Special Olympics. Above all, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Burke is survived by her husband: Michael Burke of Lapeer; children: Michael (Laura) Burke, Jr. of Lapeer, Suzann Burke of Lapeer, Melissa (Donald) Rescoe of Stevensville, Michigan and Patrick Burke of Lapeer; grandchildren: Kayla (Zach) Burbridge, Jacob (Hailee) Burke, Tristan Burke, Marshall Rescoe and Matthew Rescoe; great-grandson: Isaac; siblings: Howard Rowden of Lapeer, Cindy (Tony) Carriero of Lapeer and Michelle Dieckmann of Florida; sister-in-laws: Mary Anne Lester, Cheryl Morey, Jan (Mike) Powell and Jill June; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents: Walter and Irene Rowden and in-laws: James and Margie Burke.
Visitation will be 4-8PM Wednesday, May 1, 2019, and 1-8PM Thursday, May 2, 2019, at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer. Linda’s funeral service will be 11AM Friday, May 3, 2019 at the funeral home. Pastor Vic Bass will officiate the service, with burial to follow in Dawn Memorial Cemetery in Lapeer.
