John A. Shoup, 74, of Mansfield, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 24, 2019.
John was born on August 30, 1944, in Mansfield, to Dale E. and Grace (Moore) Shoup. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. He was a member of Diamond Hill Cathedral, and was very active in ministry. John was a faithful tour guide and went on weekly visitation. He loved to witness to others about Jesus. He loved his family and was always there for his children. John loved to work, and was always doing something around the house, or helping others. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Linda (Williams) Shoup; five children, Theresa (Craig) Barre, Joe (Stacey) Shoup, Cathy (Brian) Cheesman, and Randy Shoup, all of Mansfield, and Sherry (Luke) Johnson of Bellville; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Dwayne (Pat) Shoup; and special friend, Jake Merle.
John was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Megan Au; and grandson, Colt Shoup.
Calling hours will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2019, at Werner Gompf Funeral Services, ltd, 1106 Park Ave. East, Mansfield. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at the funeral home. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, OH.
