She was born Nov. 20, 1950, in Enid, Okla., the daughter of Fred and Irma Jones Green. She attended grade and middle school in Garber, Okla., and graduated from Wichita South High School in 1968. A resident of Burrton, she had been an employee of Pheasant Acres Nursing Home, South Hutchinson, Cessna Fluid Power, Hutchinson, and Waggoner Pew Cushion, Yoder.
She was a member of Burrton United Methodist Church, volunteered at the Dole Senior Center, Burrton, and was active with the Burrton Fire and Ambulance Department.
On March 6, 1971, she married Gary Downs in Haysville. He survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Stuart and wife, Lissa, and Nick and wife, Sherri, all of Wichita; her mother, Irma Green Mahoney, Burrton; a brother, William "Bill" Green, Wichita; and four grandchildren, Sarah, Alex, Jamie and Makayla.
She was preceded in death by a son, Michael; her father; and her stepfather, Jim Mahoney.
Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Burrton United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Harry Hynes Hospice, in care of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory, 300 East 30th, Hutchinson, KS 67502.
