Henry Preston was born July 5, 1904, the 7th child of John and Margaret Todd Preston, early settlers of Battle Creek, Iowa. He was born at Willowdale Farm, 4 miles northwest of Battle Creek, Iowa, where he lived on the family farm for 81 years. He died July 24, 1986, and burial was in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Battle Creek, Iowa.
He married Blanche Goodrich on Jan. 1, 1929, and she died in May 1985. He farmed all of his life and worked as a night watchman for the City of Battle Creek for several years.
He taught Sunday school in the Presbyterian Church in Battle Creek, Iowa. He served on the county school board, was a long time 4-H leader, and active in many community projects throughout the years.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Delores Winter of Fremont, Ne.; and Mrs. Ruth Harrison of Brooklyn Park, Mn.; one son, Wayne of Battle Creek, Iowa; 13 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
