Jimmie Welch, 79, of Fountain Hill, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2019, at his residence. Mr. Welch was a native and lifelong resident of Fountain Hill. He was a 1959 graduate of Fountain Hill High School and served in the United States Army Reserves. Mr. Welch was a tomato farmer for many years and a member of the Fountain Hill First Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved his family very much and his Yorkie, Sweet Pea.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Levi and Dorothy Aaron Welch; a brother, Levi Welch, Jr. and an infant great-granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Gail Wood Welch of Fountain Hill; a son, Jason Welch and wife, Roxane; a daughter, Kim Welch, all of Hamburg; a sister, Janet McKiever of Monticello; five grandchildren, Brock Rice of Crestview, Florida, Chelsea Welch of Hamburg, Jenae Johnson and husband, Aaron, of Buna, Texas, Micah Welch of Hamburg and Tanner Rice and wife, Marissa, of Jacksonville, North Carolina; four great-grandchildren, Piper, Ryder, Gabriel and Rosalie and a special niece, Karen Leggett of Monticello.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2019, in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bill Elton and Bro. Larry Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Eden Cemetery. Pallbearers are Tanner Rice, Brock Rice, Aaron Johnson, Bobby Ray Miller, Doug Wood, Thomas Leggett, Caleb Martin, and Abraham Estrada. Honorary pallbearers are Tommy Evans, Clarence Caine, Kory Steen, Chris Gee, Cliff Gee, Clint Gee and the Men of Fountain Hill First Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to the Eden Cemetery Association, c/o Mr. Jerry Stanley, 747 HWY 8 West, Hamburg, AR 71646.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
