“Grandma Chapman Gone to Her Reward" ~
There are many in Butte today who will hear with profound regret of the death of Grandma Chapman, widow of W. W. Chapman, who for many years was a resident of Butte, and who passed to her reward Sept. 30 at the home of her daughter at Holdenville, Okla., at the age of 87 years. While in this city the venerable couple made their home much of the time with their daughter, Mrs. S. R. Graves, who since then has moved to St. Paul, Minn. Mrs. Chapman had many friends in this city to whom she was devotedly attached, and spoke of them continually after leaving here. She was one of the grand old ladies whom any city might well be proud to claim. A noble Christian mother, a devoted and loving wife, who was called upon to give up her faithful husband in June, 1906, after reaching the twilight of their lives together. Since then she has failed steadily. She lived a good life and her children can rise up and call her blessed, and can say with a loved writer,
"Every saint in heaven is as a flower in the garden of God, and holy love is the fragrance and sweet odor that they all send forth, and with which they fill the bowers of that paradise above.”
