CHARLOTTE - Mr. Hallman, 74, passed away in his home in Charlotte on May 27th, 2013. Wayne was born on August 6, 1938 in Charlotte and was a graduate of Myers Park High School and went on to receive Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at NC State University. He was the son of Sarah and George Hallman, also of Charlotte. Wayne spent most of his working career in Nuclear Generation at Duke Energy. He was an avid golfer and played 3 days a week with all of his Raintree buddies, right up until his illness became evident 5 weeks ago. In his retirement Wayne worked on a life long dream of building a 1965 Shelby Cobra replica with the help of his eldest son Bill who passed away in 2012.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 53 years, Rebecca Jennings Hallman, his sons Wes and his wife Anna, Keith and his wife Beth, Rod and his wife Brenda, 12 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, his sister Cathy and her husband David.
A memorial service will be held at St. Mark's Lutheran Church on Queens Road in Charlotte on Sunday, June 2nd at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, Wayne has requested memorials be made to Kairos Prison Ministry with checks made to Kairos NC, sent to 8910 Cumberland Ct., Waxhaw, NC 28173. Working with young prisoners on a prison ministry team was a real passion in Wayne's life.
