John B. “Benny” Gough, age 86 of Calhoun, passed away on Friday, June 14, 2019 at Calhoun Health Care.

Benny was born on January 4, 1933 in Evansville, Indiana to the late George Gough and Mable Cornelieus Gough. In addition to his parents, Benny was also preceded in death by: his wife, Jeanette Rapp Gough; one brother; and two sisters.

Benny has been a resident of Gordon County since 1962, and prior to his retirement worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of St. Clements Catholic Church and was a former Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. Benny also served in the United States Navy and was a Veteran of the Korean War.

Benny is survived by: two sons, Dan Gough of Calhoun and Mark Gough of Rome; three daughters, Karen Bono of Fort Myers, FL, Cindy Gough of Calhoun, and Sherry Hall of Alabama; two grandchildren, Nicholas Bono and Ryan Bono and his wife Libbey; five great-grandchildren, Leah, Benjamin, Zachary, Logan, and Presley.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 18th at 11 AM from St. Clements Catholic Church with Father Feiser Munoz officiating. Interment will follow in Fain Cemetery with military honors.

Pallbearers are members of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.
