Kenneth Raymond Holcomb, 93, Avon, formerly of Elkhart, died 7:02 pm Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at Brooke Knoll Village, Avon.

He was born Oct 12, 1924 in Wolcottville to Clarence E & Nora E (Swihart) Holcomb.

He married Junelle Vivian (Martin) Holcomb on July 7, 1946 and she died Oct 22, 2015.

Surviving are daughters, Char Willsey (deceased husband, Jack Willsey), Bloomington, Jo-Ann Paino (husband, Tim Paino), Indianapolis, son, Brian Holcomb (wife, Joey Holcomb), Jacksonville, Florida, 6 grandchildren, Mark Darnell, Stephanie Baer, Brady Paino, Trent Paino, Grant Holcomb & Trey Holcomb, 3 step-grandchildren, Jake Willsey, Ruthie Willsey Sterret & Wil Byrum, 5 great-grandchildren, Logan Paino, Ethan Paino, Kaden Paino, Dylan Paino & Isabelle Paino and 3 step-great-grandchildren, Kori Davis, Clay Davis & Brea Davis.

Preceding him in death are his parents, wife, Junelle, brothers, Galen and Carl and a sister, Dorothy.

Kenneth served his country through the Civilian Public Service Program during World War II with the Church of the Brethren/Mennonite Church. He was an Ordained Minister with Assemblies of God (Springfield, MO).

After high school, Kenneth was awarded a scholarship to the Arthur Jordan Conservatory of Music in Indianapolis (now a part of Butler University) but instead found that supporting his family was a higher priority. Kenneth Holcomb worked in many different capacities throughout his life. Owned and operated a small grocery store in Goshen, Indiana, worked with his father-in-law in a furniture store, salesman with the Champion Door Company and pastored the local Assembly of God Church in Ligonier, Indiana.

The majority of his last decades of employment was being self-employed with his business, Custom Walls & Floors and installing carpet, linoleum, and ceramic tile. He remained active in the local church as an elder, Sunday school teacher and minister. In addition to his occupation, he found much enjoyment in life from music, reading, gardening and cooking.

Private family services will be held and burial will be in Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart.
