Samuel Lawrence Stevens, age 75, of Elizabethton, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord at Hillview Nursing Home on Tuesday, June 18, 2019. He was the son of the late Charlie and Delia Townsend Stevens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sixteen brothers and sisters.

Samuel was a member of Willow Springs Baptist Church and had served as a volunteer fireman for eighteen years with the Stoney Creek Fire Department. He worked as a TV technician for thirty years at R&M Radio and TV, before retiring as the owner and operator of Stevens TV Repair.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of fifty four years, Phyllis Hazel Stevens, of the home. Several nieces, nephews and dear friends also survive.

A service to celebrate and honor the life of Samuel Lawrence Stevens will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Saturday, June 22, 2019 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Dr. Kenneth Jordan and Reverend Jerry Cannon, officiating. Music will be under the direction of the Smith Sisters and Bobby Smith. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Saturday or at the residence at any time.

The graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 23, 2019 in the Wilson Cemetery in Stoney Creek, with Reverend Dean Smith and Dr. Kenneth Jordan, officiating. Active pallbearers will be Robert Bowers, Shirley Bowers, Jerry Buckles, Leonard Buckles, Dwayne Buckles and Bud Hambrick. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Bowers, Jonathan Bowers, Matthew Bowers, Ray Brooks, Russell Peters, Bobby Smith and Gerald Buckles. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton at 1:15 PM on Sunday, to go in procession.

The family would like to send a “heartfelt thanks” to the staff and caregivers of Ivy Hall Nursing Home and Hillview Nursing Home for the wonderful care given to Samuel during his illness.
