Russell Neal Montgomery, Lt. Col (Retired), U.S. Air Force, age 89, of Biloxi, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2019.

Russell was born December 27, 1929, in Canton, Mississippi, to Thomas Jefferson and Audrey Clare Montgomery. He was a 1947 graduate of Forrest City High School.

Russell was married to his beloved wife, Dorothy S. Montgomery, for 58 years until her passing in August 2008. Russell served in the U.S. Air Force for 27 years in radar communications and retired at the rank of Lt Col.

Russell enjoyed the Biloxi area since 1948 as Keesler Air Force Base was his first assignment in the USAF. He was assigned to Keesler again 1964-1965 and several times after that. He always enjoyed fishing with friends and family, so he returned to Biloxi permanently after he retired from the USAF in 1975.

Russell was greatly loved in life for his humor, wisdom, and heart to help others and will be sadly missed. Russ accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and his faith in God was confirmed by his actions, words, prayers, and relationship with God daily. He will be in our hearts forever.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Audrey Montgomery; his sister, Norma Jane Montgomery; his brothers, Thomas J. Montgomery, Clarence Montgomery, James Lloyd Montgomery; his daughter, Susan Fay Montgomery (Goebel); and a granddaughter, Melissa L. Montgomery.

He is survived by his sons, Billy (Cindy) Montgomery and Thomas Paul Montgomery (Tommy) of Niceville, FL; daughters, Debra E. Montgomery of Saucier, MS, Sandy Montgomery (John Mark) Pool of Biloxi, MS; nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the 81st Keesler Air Force Base Medical Center doctors and nurses for their excellent care.

A visitation will be held Monday, June 24, 2019, 7:00-8:00pm and Tuesday, June 25, 9:00-11:00am, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Rd, Biloxi.

Funeral services will follow at 11:00am, with interment at Biloxi National Cemetery at 12:30pm.
