Lillian was born in Bath, Maine, to Henry and Nellie Leeman. She had two younger siblings, Arthur and Nellie. She married Raymond Rice in 1929, and they had four children: Glenda, Arthur, Lillian, and Irving. Lillian and Ray divorced prior to 1953, but found a second chance, remarrying after 1978. After Ray's death, she spent the rest of her life in Denver, surrounded by loved ones.
