"Death, be not proud!!!
A short sleep, and I will wake again, eternally.
A short voyage, and I will meet my Maker face to face.
By John Donne
I was born on February 7, 1925 in Milford, Delaware, the seventh of ten children born to the late Hurley and Hattie Henry.
I am the product of the Delaware Public School System where I attended Benjamin Banneker in Milford.
On October 31, 1942, I married the late Oscar Vincent Warren of Berlin, Maryland. My greatest pride and joy was found in raising four wonderful children, Steve (who preceded me in death), Elaine, Marilyn, and Gary.
For a time, I worked at the Milford Memorial Hospital, Walter's Dry Cleaners, and Shawnee Country Club as a cook.
Late one Wednesday evening while visiting in July 1978, my daughter led me to accept Jesus Christ as my Personal Savior. I recommitted myself to my Lord and Savior on January 28, 2017.
After retiring, I began to have physical challenges and my activities became somewhat limited. Although my health was failing, I insisted on remaining in my home to continue my hobby of growing indoor and outdoor flowers and plants for a while.
Gary and his wife Mabel were a dutiful, loving, and caring son and daughter-in-law who brought me comfort in my last days.
Give my grandchildren and great grandchildren a big hug for me. Tell my brother-in-law, Douglas Gibson, that I will miss our conversations.
My family, I leave you for now, and I say farewell to Reverend Dr. Katherine E. Rose, Pastor of Bethel AME Church in York, PA; Marilyn Doyle (Jerry) of Manchester, New Hampshire; and Gary Warren, Sr. (Mabel) of Milford; Douglas Gibson, brother-in-law of Milford; Rose Henry, sister-in-law of Philadelphia; my cousins, nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
As I depart, so goes the end of my generation of the Henry clan. Tell my nieces and nephews to carry high the badge of honor of the Henry family. I pray that God will bless all of you as you make your way through life.
I am grateful for the friendship, care and support of my two friends, Darlene Bailey and Bessie Butler, C.N.A.
I love you,
Your Mommy, Grand-mom, Aunt Catherine, Friend,
God's Departed Servant
