Jean R. Simpson, 78, of Troutville, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones after a battle with Frontotemporal Dementia. She is predeceased by her parents, Ray and Mary Roach; her brother, Ray Shelby Roach; and her beloved husband, I. Warren Simpson.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her daughter, Pamela Reed Kearney and her husband Chris Kearney and their sons Patrick and Brian Kearney; her daughter, Tambra Wrenn and her husband Chris Wrenn and their daughter Jenna Wrenn; her son, Damon Reed and his wife Fawn Reed and their daughters Caelen and Summer Reed, and Damon’s son Michael Reed; her brother, David Roach and his family; her stepmother, Cleo Roach; her stepdaughter, Melinda Simpson; her stepson, Steven Simpson, his wife Helen Simpson and their children Ryan and Kendra Simpson; her stepson, Dennis Simpson, his wife Dierdre Whitford and their daughters Zoe and Raquel Whitford; and her stepdaughter, Debbie Simpson. In addition, she is survived by numerous beloved nieces and nephews and precious friends.
Jean will be remembered for her kindness and giving nature, and for her intense love of family, especially her children, stepchildren, and grandchildren, whom she loved without measure. She will be missed forever in this lifetime. However, she is at last free from all anxieties, troubles and once again has her brilliant mind and sense of humor. God obtained a special angel when she came home.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to numerous caregivers at Generation Solutions who showed her so much kindness during her illness, especially Barbara, Lisa, Robin, Elizabeth, Rachel, Sara, Rebecca, and many others. They also wish to thank the nurses at Amedysis Hospice who helped them through the final difficult hours.
The family will receive visitors at Oakey’s East Chapel in Bonsack, VA on Friday, June 21 from 2- 4:00pm and 6 – 8:00pm. Services will be held at Troutville Baptist Church with the Rev. Carol Johnston officiating on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 11:00am prior to interment at Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration.
