Tom was born April 12, 1951 in Norway, MI, son of the late Rodney E. and Rose L. (Belaire) Carlson. He graduated from Kingsford High School in 1969 and was a lifelong resident of the area. Tom married Patricia Kay DuFord on August 21, 1971 at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. Tom and Patti founded CJ Graphics and operated the business out of their home for the first couple years until moving to the current location on Carpenter Ave. in Kingsford. Tom retired from CJ Graphics in 2003 and his love of working outdoors led him to start Tom’s Lawn Cutting. He was a member of St. Mary & St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain and the Kiwanis Ski Club. Tom was a hard working man and was always there to help others. He enjoyed doing yard work, operating his tractor, running heavy equipment and going to “Camp Friday” in Amasa. He treasured many quality years spent with friends and family on the Menominee River, especially enjoying sunset cruises with Patti on their pontoon boat.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patti; a daughter, Nicole (Mike) Lutz; a son, Brandon Carlson; two grandchildren, Finnley and Lawson Lutz; two brothers, Gary (Susan) Carlson and Dan (Jane) Carlson; a sister, Christine (Gene) Peterson; and several nieces and nephews.
At Tom’s request, private family services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in the Quinnesec Cemetery.
