Rebecca E. Schrock, 89, of Dalton, died Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home after a long period of declining health.

She was born near Apple Creek on Nov. 16, 1927, to Eli D. and Mattie (Miller) Hershberger and married Emanuel A. Schrock on April 19, 1951. He preceded her in death on Feb. 22, 2003.

They lived at various places in Wayne and Holmes counties, and she assisted her husband with his blacksmithing business and selling their wrought iron work at Holmes County Flea Market. She enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren and helping and serving those around her.

Surviving are her children, Elizabeth (Prem) Khemchandani of Dalton, with whom she had made her home in her later years, Eli (Elva) Schrock of Freeport, Abe (Jan) Schrock of Gentry, Ark., Erma (Kelvin) Gable of Perrysville, LeRoy (Priscilla) Schrock of Del Norte, Colo., Miriam (William) Coblentz of Greenfield, Mary (Sam) Lehman of Murray, Ky., Martha (Bryan) Unruh of Dundee, Philip (Anna) Schrock of Dalton and Regina (Glenn) Troyer of Fredericksburg; 40 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren; brothers, Nathaniel, Adam, Dave and Milo Hershberger; and sisters, Barbara Wengerd, Sara Hostetler and Katie (Andy) Miller.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Rachel; and a grandson, Chester Khemchandani; brothers, Eli, Jake, Henry, Dan, Levi, Jonathan and Sam Hershberger; stepbrothers, Ezra, Joe, Abe and Elmer Schmucker; and sisters, Mary Miller, Lovina Mast and Amanda Beachy.
