Her funeral will be Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Ellsworth United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gifty Smith and Dave O'Neall officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington. Memorial donations may be made to the Children's Discovery Museum, Normal, or Ellsworth United Methodist Church.
Trudy was born Nov. 9, 1951, to Bob and Alice Smithson. She married Eugene Hanover on Feb. 21, 1969. They have twin surviving daughters, Shelly Hanover and Kelly (Tim) Higgerson, both of Ellsworth. Surviving family members include a sister, Linda (Ron) Smith, Kenton, Ohio; and sisters-in-law, Vicki Smithson, Bloomington, and Theresa Smithson, Ellsworth.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two brothers, Ken Smithson and Jay Smithson.
Trudy was known for her love of family gatherings, annual trips to Disney World and Sanibel Island with her girls and Tim, bird watching, and cheering for the Chicago Cubs. Trudy never met a stranger, welcomed all into her home and always had a laugh to share. Trudy was a loving mother, sister and devoted friend, who will be deeply missed.
