Gladys Lenox Stewart went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at the age of 92. Mrs. Stewart was born at Talucah, Alabama on July 1, 1926 to Daniel Gervace Lenox and Lola Mae Haynes Lenox. She married Robert Melvin Stewart on February 2, 1946 in Morgan County, Alabama. Visitation will be from 6-8PM on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Peck Funeral Home in Hartselle. Funeral services will be on Friday, June 21, 2019 at 11AM at New Friendship Baptist Church, Somerville, AL with Rev. Tommy Smothers officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. The body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service and Burial will be in the New Friendship cemetery.
Mrs. Stewart was a loving, precious Mother and Memmie and will be greatly missed by her children and grandchildren. Her home was her life-long career except for the nine years she worked at Crestline Elementary School in Hartselle, Alabama.
Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Melvin Stewart; her parents; two brothers, Leonard Howard Lenox and Dan E. Lenox, and a grandson, Robert Marlon (Robbie) Stewart.
She is survived by one son, Jerry Marlon Stewart and three daughters, Patricia Slaten (Don), Teresa Stewart and Tina Southerland (Tim); two sisters, Sue Worley and Peggy Davis; five grandchildren, Michael Slaten (Kristen Nowell), Sheri Slaten Tilley (Patrick), Laci Southerland Hudson (Jeremy), Luke Southerland (Baylee Lockhart)and Sara Stewart and ten great-grandchildren, Tyler Berry (Ana), Heather Tilley Lewis (Caleb), Logan Tilley, Carson Levario-Slaten, Destiny Stewart, Jaden Stewart, Sebastian Stewart, Cody Stewart, Jackson Hudson, and Micah Hudson.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
