Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday, June 21, 2019 at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Carole was born on July 26, 1954 in Decatur, IL the daughter of John William and Corinne (Albrook) Thomley. She married Joe Wilson on June 1, 1985. Together they shared 34 years of marriage.
In addition to her loving husband Joe, survivors include her mother, Corinne Thomley; brothers; Mark and John Thomley; sister, Sandy Thomley-Ruelle (Steve); son, Zachariah Huddleston; daughter; Tiffany DeLong (Joe) and her beloved grandchildren Hayla, Eli and Braden.
Carole was preceded in death by her father, brother Scott Thomley, and one granddaughter Abalene Ash Huddleston.
Carole’s classmates from Maroa-Forsyth will remember her as the homecoming queen, and Miss Betty Crocker. Professionally she worked in food service management for over 20 years. Carole was a long-time resident of Mattoon. She was very active in her church, serving in the Ladies Aid and Friendship Guild as well as volunteering with St. John’s Lutheran School. Carole loved taking vacations with her family, especially anywhere near the ocean.
Carole shared her gift of wit, laughter, love and home cooked meals. She was an amazing mom, sister, daughter, wife, grandma and “Gaga”, but to only call her amazing would be an understatement. While there is no one word to describe her, she was simply the best. She took care of a lot of people. She always cared for her family more than herself. She was tough, kind, caring, and an overall amazing person. Her greatest purpose was the love she shared with her children and grandchildren. Though they will always miss her, her family knows she would want them to be happy and to continue on being happy.
Memorial donations in her honor may be given to the St. John’s Lutheran School. Online condolences may be expressed at www.schillingfuneralhome.net or Schilling Funeral Home’s Facebook page
