Edith Lillian Dixon, 93, of Connersville went home to be with her Lord on Monday morning, June 17, 2019, at her home.

The youngest of three children of George Roy and Irene Iris Friend Dawson, Edith was born at home in Orange Township in Fayette County on January 1, 1926.

Edith graduated with the class of 1944 from Orange High School.

Following her graduation until 1947, she was employed at Fayette Bank and Trust Company. On February 28, 1948, Edith married Robert King Dixon in First Baptist Church of Connersville.

Together, Robert and Edith owned and operated several stores in Connersville including: Dixon Grocery Store from 1948 to 1952, Western Auto Store from 1952 until 1964, and Dixon Sports Center and Hardware from 1964 to 1976. Following Mr. Dixon’s death on May 14, 1976, Edith became employed at Sears Roebuck from 1976 until 1983 when she started again at Fayette Bank and Trust Company until her retirement in 1986.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Kay Gettinger of Connersville; a granddaughter, Anna Dawn Fetty of Connersville; two sisters-in-law, Jean Dawson of Richmond and Cristabelle Montgomery of Rushville; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides her husband of 27 years, Robert Dixon, Edith was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Jim Gettinger; grandson, Ryan Gettinger; grandson-in-law, Ray Fetty; and two brothers, Edwin Dawson and George R. Dawson, Jr.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 21, 2019, at First Baptist Church of Connersville with Reverend Mal Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Dale Cemetery.
