John Preston Geelan, 74, of Houston, Texas passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2019. He was born on September 14, 1944 in Beaumont, Texas to Preston and LaVerne Geelan.
John married the love of his life, Sally Gest on September 28, 1965. Together they built a family and had two children, Andrea Lee and Jonna Rae.

John was never short of a story to tell and was always just a phone call away for anyone needing help. He spent many charitable hours working aside others, collecting for Shriner’s Hospital and various other charitable endeavours. One of John’s favorite hobbies was his fascination with cars; he belonged to many car clubs, collected cars and car parts and went to many swap meets in search for the dream car or part in which one day he would transform into a complete car.

One of his passions was with the many Masonic Affiliate Organizations. He was a Past Master of Cypress Lodge No. 1423. He was an Endowed Member of the Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Texas and an Endowed Member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Free Masonry. He was a Past Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Cypress Chapter No. 1102.

John is survived by his children Andrea Delaney and husband Rick and Jonna Horak and husband Joe; his grandchildren Karissa Delaney Sonntag and her husband Adam, Katie Delaney Howard and her husband Andy, Jessica Horak Burttschell and her husband Jesse, Jordan Horak and Jenna Horak; great grandchildren Bowen Sonntag and Sadie Sonntag; his sister Janet Thomas; his half sister Lisa Scott; his half-brother Greg Geelan; and step brother Donald Burke; and by a wide circle of friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Sally Geelan; his dad, Preston (Tiny) Geelan; his mom; LaVerne Fine; and stepmom Billie Geelan.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations to two of John’s favorite charities, Scottish Rite Hospital for Children or Shriners Hospital for Children - Houston or to a charity of you choosing. Thank you
