Eula Kate Fox Watson, age 94 of Sevierville, born December 28, 1924, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2019.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Sevierville since 1956.

Eula was born in the English Mountain community of Sevier County. She grew up when times were hard but from the stories she and her siblings told they had a very fun childhood. As a teenager she worked at Bushes Canning Factory as a bean inspector. After moving to downtown Sevierville she worked at the Hosiery Mill, but soon after met the love of her life, Mell Watson, Jr. They were married October 21, 1944. They had two daughters and in 1956 she began working at the Sevier County High School Cafeteria where she worked for several years. She then worked at Kilpatrick’s Drug Store and later Stewart’s Drug Store in downtown Sevierville. Her final job was working at the Apple Barn Restaurant and Cider Mill where she baked their famous pies and desserts. She retired from the Apple Barn at the age of 80. She was always a fabulous cook and loved preparing delicious meals for her family, especially on holidays and birthdays.

Eula was preceded in death by her husband, Mell Richard Watson, Jr.; parents, Ottis Odell and Deborah Jane Layman Fox; sisters, Augretta Helton, Ann Koontz, Wilma Grace Fox, and Virginia Schinkith; brothers, Berlin “Bud” Fox and Willard Fox.

She is survived by Daughters and Son-in-law: Janie and Rock Sonneland and Brenda Sims; Grandchildren: Kim Hearn Summers (Steve), David L. Sims, Brad Hearn, and Travis Sims; Great Grandchildren: Blake Hearn (Chelsea), Keaton Summers and Katelyn Summers; Brother: Earl Fox (Nancy); Sister-in-law: Mary Elizabeth McCarter.

The family would like to thank the staff at Dominion Senior Living of Sevierville, Smoky Mountain Hospice, and the Care Ministry at First Baptist Church, Sevierville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: First Baptist Church, Sevierville TV or Music Ministry, 317 Parkway, Sevierville, TN 37862 or to the Pat Summit Foundation, 520 W. Summit Hill Dr. Suite 1101, Knoxville, TN 37902.

The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Thursday with funeral service following at 7 PM in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Andrews officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10 AM Friday in Shiloh Cemetery for graveside service and interment.
