Paul Herbert Watkins
August 7, 1947 - June 13, 2019

Paul Herbert Watkins, age 71, of Powell passed away from complications following surgery on June 13 at Saint Vincent Hospital in Billings.

Paul was born at his North Georgia home on August 7, 1947 to Frank James and Bonnie Oslee Jones-Watkins. He spent his childhood hunting and fishing with his dad, grandpa, and brothers in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Paul graduated from Fannin County High School and North Georgia Tech. He joined the USAF in 1968 during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged at the rank of sergeant in 1972. After his military service, he spent the rest of his career in telecommunications.

In 1973, Paul’s dream of returning to the west was realized with his move to Wyoming. Paul thoroughly enjoyed his life in Wyoming, and in the few months he wasn’t hunting, he was dreaming about it.

Paul’s doctor said his heart was the biggest he has ever seen, little did he know that his heart for others was even bigger. His family and friends will greatly miss his corny jokes, story telling, hunting trips, and family fun. Paul trusted Jesus as his Savior as a child and he served God faithfully in his church. He never met a stranger, and made a point to invite people to church and help those in need. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

Paul is survived by his loving wife, Diane; children - Donna (Bill) Bogardus, Cindy (Cole) Howe, Michael (Tifanni) Watkins, and Sarah Clapp. Mother - Oslee Watkins-Wilcox of Georgia. Sister - Shelia (Joe) White of Texas. Brothers - Wayne (Mary) Watkins and Randall (Nancy) Watkins of Georgia. Grandchildren - Billy, Monica, Johnny, Alaina, and Danny Bogardus, Caitlyn(Bob) Oswald, Catrina (Stefan) Christensen, Caleb Howe, Aurrora, Peterson, Adlerson, and Gabriella Watkins, and Zane Clapp. Great-grandchildren - Tori, Chloe, and Mia Oswald, Nora and Judson Christensen and many extended family in Georgia and Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Watkins, step-father, Ernest Wilcox, and granddaughter, Christina Bogardus.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 18th at 10:30 am at Cody Bible Church with burial in Riverside Cemetery with military honors.
