Edward T. Gallagher, 69, of Philadelphia passed away peacefully on June 14, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of 39 years to Joan Gallagher (nee Peasley). Loving father of Siobhan, Sean, and Marykate Gallagher (Michael). Pop-Pop of Raegan, Addison, Mackenzie and Sean Jr. Dear brother of Joseph Gallagher (Peggy). Ed was survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Ed was born on July 26, 1949 in Philadelphia to the late Edward and Irene Gallagher (nee Gwinner). He attended St. Matthew and graduated from Father Judge in 1967. After high school, he was drafted into the United States Military and served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. Ed worked for the US Postal Service for over 30 years. He retired in 2012, as the director of the Eastern Region for the National Postal Mail Handlers Union. Edward loved three things: his family, work, and sports. If he wasn't working, you could find him coaching, watching his children play sports, spending quality time with his family and of course a delicious meal. Ed treasured every minute he spent with his four grandchildren. His smile was contagious when he was surrounded by his family and friends.
