A longtime resident of Cleburne County, Mr. Cathey was a retired Staff Sargeant with the National Guard, and he was also a retired fireman for the Heber Springs Fire Department. Mr. Cathey's religious belief was Baptist. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ruth (Gardner) Cathey, on October 23, 2004.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Cathey of Little Rock and James Cathey of Heber Springs; one sister, Janet Birdsong of Little Rock; and three grandchildren, Steven Cathey, Jason Cathey, and Emily Cathey. Mr. Cathey is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 9, at 10:00 a.m. at Cleburne County Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. www.olmstead.cc
