Carolyn J. Kaltenbach Richards

October 15, 1935-July 29, 2018

We celebrate our incredible mother's grace, beauty and strength of mind, body, and spirit.

Born in Los Angeles to Betty Montoya and Richard D. Lee Sr., she moved to Columbus, Ohio as a teenager to find that, for the rest of the country, tuna came in a can. She is a graduate of Holy Rosary High School where she met, fell in love with, and in September 1954 married John Kaltenbach.

Carol leaves her three children, Martha, Danny and his wife Cathy, John David Kaltenbach, and many nieces and nephews who all cherish her laugh and love.

Carolyn defied all odds--surviving three bouts with cancer with grace and determination. Predeceased by her parents; husband, John R. Kaltenbach; and brother, Richard D. Lee Jr.; she is also survived by sister, Elizabeth (Tom) Reitz and her sister-in-law, Vanessa Lee.

She loved babies, cats, clothes, cooking, and family and was an avid craftsperson. She learned to re-cane chairs, sew, knit, can, and still have time to be a Den mother.

Carol was a model for a short time before raising a family, volunteering at Stan Hywet Hall (for over 1,000 hours), and eventually reentered the workforce at Kelly Springfield Tire and as office manager and bookkeeper of L'il Joe's Pub for many years.

Cremation has taken place. Chapel and graveside services Saturday, August 11, 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Cemetery, Lockbourne Ohio.
