James Donald Courtney, a resident of Walker, died at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, 1998, at Columbia Medical Center, Baton Rouge. He was 61 and a native of New Orleans.

Visiting was at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, until religious services, conducted by the Rev. Paul Jones and the Rev. W.S. McMasters. Interment in Minton Cemetery.

Survived by six sisters, Marie C. Rushing, Ivy C. Ellis, Aline C. Peak, Lettie Mae Kirkwood, Christine Bender and Carolyn Burge; a brother, Rudolph Bueche; stepmother, Marie Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fieldon Courtney; and a sister, Iola C. Sanders.

He was a member of Walker Baptist Church.

His birth parents were Zeb and Starlin Jones but he was adopted by the Courtney's after Starline's death.
