Col. Thomas Harry Barton, age 79, died Saturday, December 24, 1960 at Eldorado, Arkansas.

He was born September 20, 1881, at Marlin, Texas, the son of Thomas Killebrew and Mary Estelle (Johnson) Barton.

He and Nora Weatherford were married in 1905. They were the parents of two children. They later divorced.

He and Madeline Mary Latimer were married July 13, 1925.

He was the President of Lion Oil Company for 30 years. Colonel Barton was a leader in the south Arkansas oil industry and other Arkansas business, civic, and charitable interests.

He also was president of the Arkansas State Fair and Livestock Show.

Barton Coliseum, located within the Arkansas State Fairgrounds. was constructed in 1952 and named for industrialist Thomas Harry Barton. Located in Little Rock (Pulaski County), it was Arkansas's largest public building at the time, containing 6,750 permanent seats and 3,000 portable floor seats.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; two sons, Clark N. Barton and Thomas Killebrew Barton; two brothers and a sister.

Burial is in Arlington Memorial Park in El Dorado, Arkansas.
