Race Car Driver. Born in North Tonawanda, New York, he was a race car driver who raced in formulas, sprint cars and stock cars. He drove in the USAC Championship series in the (1959–68) and (1970-74) seasons, with 97 career starts. He finished in the top ten 38 times, with 4 victories, in (1959 and 1960-62). As a 10-time veteran of the Indianapolis 500, he was the fastest qualifier and Rookie of the Year in 1960. He died of a heart attack at age 56 in Port Arthur, Texas. In 1993, he was posthumously induted into the national Sprint Car Hall of Fame.
