Robert Joseph Biner was born in Los Angeles on January 31st, 1923 to William and Harriet Lynch Biner.
Bob grew up in a time that is now called the greatest generation. He was a child of the Great Depression and learned the lesson of hard work and saving for the future. During World War II Bob served in the Eighth Air Force, Second Air Division, and 453rd Bomb Group. He completed 17 missions over Germany as a belly gunner and later as a waist gunner. When he came back from the war he went to the University of Washington on the GI Bill.
He became a teacher and moved to California to teach art at East Whittier Junior High. There he met Louise Claire Andos and they married in 1962. They had three children Tim, Mary, and Bill. He lived in Fullerton and in 1975 moved to Yorba Linda to get a bigger house so his widowed mother and mother in law could move in with the family. Bob was blessed by a daughter in law Rachel and then two granddaughters Isabella and Olivia Biner.
Bob loved to golf. Every Saturday you would find him at the Green River Golf Course He walked instead of renting a cart. Tim and Bill took him golfing until he was 90. He also loved the Lord. He joined St. Martin de Porres in 1975. He attended the 7:15 A.M. mass where he would greet you as a hospitality minister. He used his God-given gift in artistry in decorating the church throughout the year.
The last few years Alzheimers took away Bob's ability to speak. But he was able to give a speech on his 90th birthday. He said at that time he was so fortunate that he had always had love in his life. Love from his God, parents, brother, and sisters. He was surrounded in love by his nephews, nieces, wife, children, grandchildren and many friends. We are blessed today with a book written by his nephew Joseph Fulton. The book is composed of letters Bob and his brother Bill sent home to the family during WWII. Bob was presented this book on his 90th birthday that was attended by his younger sister Fritzie and many loved nieces and nephews. Thank you Bob for teaching us how to love unconditionally.
