Katherine Francis Gray, 99, of Ottumwa, died at 10 a.m. January 19, 2015, at the Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa. She was born July 11, 1915, in Wapello County, Iowa, to Lester O. and Hazel Young Sholes. She married Glenn Howard Gray on January 4, 1936, in Ottumwa. He preceded her in death on August 13, 1989. A resident of Wapello County her entire life, she attended several rural schools and graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1933. She was a seamstress, a homemaker and farmed with her husband southwest of Chillicothe until moving to Ottumwa in 1965. She is survived by a son, Gene E. (Jewell) Gray of Ottumwa; a daughter, Glenda Campbell (Haven Douglas Noble) of Mt. Pleasant; a grandson, Russell (Patti) Gray of Cedar Rapids; and a brother, Robert Sholes of Albia. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lester and Joseph Sholes; and two sisters, Margaret Darrah and Donna Sholes, who died at age 4.
