Gerald “Jerry” Wayne Dixon went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ Friday, June 14, 2019.

He was a loving husband and father and worked tirelessly to help his family and anyone in need if it was in his power. He loved music, singing bass, and traveling with his family, making as many memories as possible.

He worked for Bi-Lo Corporation 30 years, but his favorite role, and the one he's most known for, was “Poppy” to his many grandchildren that he doted on and adored more than life itself.

Jerry is preceded in death by his loving wife Cheryl Dixon, his parents Major General “SAM” and Janet Dixon, his brother Kenneth Dixon.

He is survived by his brother Ronnie Dixon, Daughters Michelle (Clay) Howell, Rachel (Brad) Irwin, sons, Jonathan (Brandi) Dixon and Tim (Catherine) Dixon, step-daughter Melissa (Mitch) Koch, grandchildren, Cael and Cali Howell, Blake and Tinsley Irwin, Maddie, Avery, Graham and Evie Dixon, Genny and Elizabeth Dixon, and step-granchildren Austin (Kela) Koch, Brittany (John) Creasey, Dustan (Elizabeth) Chevalier, and step-great-grandchildren Orlando and Geneva Chevalier.

The family will receive visitors from 4 to 7 pm on Monday, June 17, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Jerry will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, June 18, at Oakwood Baptist Church, 4501 Bonny Oaks Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416 with Reverend Jack Reiss officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
