Aug. 28, 1933 — Oct. 15, 2012 Billy Verlin Bewley, 79, of Duncan passed away Monday, Oct. 15, 2012 at his home in Duncan.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday in the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend officiating. Interment will be in the Leticia Cemetery under the direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home.

Billy was born August 28, 1933 in Comanche County, the son of William McKinley and Blanche Bardsher Bewley Light. He graduated from the Duncan High School. He and Thea Bewley were married July 26, 1976 at Lawton.

He served in the United States Army from 1949 to 1951, was a writer, poet, humanitarian and actor. He owned Arthur Murray and Fred Astaire franchises in Tennessee, Maryland and Texas. He had real estate offices in Florida and Oklahoma. He had acted in numerous plays at the Pasadena Playhouse in Pasadena, Calif. He believed in worshiping his Lord by helping those who could not help themselves.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Lisa Marie Bewley.

Survivors include his wife Thea Bewley of the home in Duncan; his son Verlin Jay Bewley of Duncan; his daughter Michelle Miller-Hayes of Midwest City; grandsons Dylan Jay and Christopher Lee Bewley both of Duncan; granddaughters Crimson Nicole Jackson of Mobile, Alabama and Cheyenne Marie Hayes of Oklahoma City.
