He was born at Dodbrooke, Kingsbridge, Devon. He joined the Royal Navy in 1803, was at the battle of Trafalgar in 1805, where he lost his right eye and was severely injured by splinters. He was a J.P. and died at Cheriton Road, Folkestone. Probate to Harriet Kennicott of Folkestone, spinster, the daughter, the sole executrix. Mayor of Folkestone 1850-1860.
