Ruth Alice Cook Dayton, age 84, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving family and God’s Heavenly angels.

Ruth was born September 12, 1934 in Jackson County and was the daughter of the late Ben Cook and the late Pearl Hooper Cook. Mrs. Dayton had made her home in Haywood County most of her life and she was loved by everyone blessed to know her. Her faith was an important part of Ruth’s life. She was a dedicated member of Beulah Baptist Church where she had served as the chairperson of the church food pantry, always having a great concern and compassion for those who may need a helping hand. Ruth was a member of the church choir, a beloved nursery, and Sunday School Teacher and had proudly served on various committees in her church. Mrs. Dayton dedicated her life to her Lord and her church and her cherished presence will be deeply missed by her church family. Ruth enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable garden and she delighted everyone by sharing her knowledge of “canning” by teaching classes to friends and also family members. Ruth loved her family dearly and she always placed the needs of others before herself. In the words of her family, “We will always remember her as one of God’s virtuous women.” Let us give thanks for the beautiful life of Ruth Cook Dayton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Eva Mae Rogers and Eleanor Phillips and brothers, Ed Cook and J.B. Cook.
