During his early years, Roland accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and became a member of the South Street Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina. Later in life, He and his wife, Daisy, joined the Love of God Church of Christ in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, under the leadership of the late Bishop Moses Williams, and he remained faithful and dedicated until his death.
Roland’s formal education was received in the Halifax County Public School System, and he graduated from the former McIver High School in Littleton, North Carolina, with the class of 1967. He then served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1969. After returning home to Littleton, Roland enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
On December 31, 1988, Roland was united in Holy Matrimony to the former Daisy Robinson. They were a perfect match! They enjoyed the same things; working in the yard, spending time with their family and friends, going to church together, and traveling from place to place with their church family. One of Roland’s greatest joys was watching football, and he was a Die Hard Redskins fan!
Roland loved providing assistance to family and friends, transporting those in need to doctor’s appointments, or anything else he could do to help anyone. His door was always open and he and Daisy were always willing and ready to come to the rescue when needed.
