William H. “Peep” McClure, 95, of Carlisle, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2019, in his home.

He was born March 12, 1924, in Burnham to the late Alva and Margaret (Shunkwiler) McClure.

After graduation from Lewistown HS in 1941, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and completed flight training school at Notre Dame and in Pensacola, Fla. He was then commissioned an ensign and became a Navy pilot. After his retirement, as Vice President of Finance from Kinney Shoe Corp. in 1986, Peep enjoyed volunteering at Project Share, golfing, and traveling to Florida. He was a former member of Allison United Methodist Church and was currently an active member of Middlesex United Methodist Church.

William is survived by three children, William J. (wife, Shirley) McClure, of Hamburg, Christine E. Morrow, of Carlisle, and Daniel K. McClure, of Florida; six grandchildren, Jeffrey (wife, Bonnie) McClure, of Florida, Richard (wife, Michelle) McClure, of Mohnton, Suzanne (husband, John) Brothers, of Massachusetts, Bradley McClure, of Schuylkill Haven, Rebecca (husband, David) Brandt of Mechanicsburg, and Katherine Robinson, of Boiling Springs; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Peep was preceded in death by his loving wife of 72 years, Joyce J. (Jenkins) McClure; one granddaughter, Cynthia Morrow; two great-grandchildren, Erin Morrow and Dillon Hayes; and one sister, Margaret S. McClure.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at Middlesex United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rachel Wong officiating. Burial will follow in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Project Share, 5 N. Orange St. #4 Carlisle, PA 17013, or to Middlesex United Methodist Church, 118 N. Middlesex Road Carlisle, PA 17013.
