Randolph "Randy" Mitchell Aker, 55, of Wytheville died Sunday, June 10, 2007, at Wythe County Community Hospital in Wytheville. Funeral service was held Tuesday, June 12, at 8 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Ingo officiating. A graveside service was held Wednesday, June 13, at noon at the Aker Family Cemetery. He was born Aug. 30, 1951, in Wythe County, a son of the late John Bramlett and Mary Elizabeth Bralley Aker. He was a self-employed brick mason. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Lacy Aker. Survivors include a daughter, Missy Aker of Nashville, Tenn.; sister, Ethel Buckhout of Montclair; six brothers and sisters-in-law, twin brother Rudolph "Rudy" and Vicki Aker of Wytheville, John Lucian and Janet Aker of Draper, Roy and Dorothy Aker of Max Meadows, Milton and Dorothy Aker of Pulaski, Otis Neil Aker, Tim and Susie Aker, all of Wytheville; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other close relatives. Those who prefer may make memorial donations to the Lead Mines Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 502, Austinville, VA 24312. Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville was in charge of the arrangements.
