David was the son of David Tenny Jr. and Margaret Gates Tenney of Columbia. She was the daughter of George Tenney of Columbia.

Married his cousin Abigail B. Tinney Sept 16, 1853 Columbia Maine (alternate spelling Tenney) . Abigail was the daughter of Joseph Fenno Tenny and first wife Mehitable Hughes (alternate spelling Huse); Joseph being a brother to Margaret Gates Tenney first above.

In the 1860 census David was 28, residinng in Dennysville Maine and was a carpenter. Abigial was 23 and they had children Frederick P. age 5 and Alba E. age 3.

Enlisted from Dennysville May 1, 1861, age 29 and married, discharged for disability Aug 30, 1862. Member Co J, 6th div Infantry. David was a laborer.

Maine Veteran's Record David J. Tenney, born March 5, 1832 Columbia, died Feb 3, 1881, buried Town Cemetery #1. enlisted Feb 1865 discharged Aug 28, 1865, co E, 14th Infantry, Maine Volunteers, GAR marker and flag, has monument stone.

By 1870 the family had returned to Columbia Falls and David and Abigail had children Fred age 15, Abbie age 14, cora age 10, Robert age 6 and David age 4.

In 1880 David was 49, a laborer, and wife Abigail B. was 43. In the household at that time were children Cora A. age 19, Robert P. age 16, and David A. age 13.

Wife Abigail married at least two more times; in 1894 she married John T. Allen. She married Edward B. Owen in June of 1904. He later died that year in September and was buried in Forest Hill Cemetery in Pembroke with first wife Deborah. Abigail Owen died in Columbia Falls July 28, 1906, widow of Edward B. Owen and daughter of Fenno Tenney. She died of nephritis and death record does not indicate where she was buried.
