He was born July 27, 1935, in Crossville, Tenn., and moved to Elyria in 1958. he worked at Ford's Lorain Assembly Plant as a truck driver and in general stores from 1958 until retirement in 1985. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and former member of Sportsman Gun and Reel Club and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Julie L. (nee Beaty); daughter, Brenda Hale of Martinsburg, W.V; sons Mike Hale of Wakeman and Robert Hale of Martinsburg; stepson, Willard Wells of Lebanon; stepdaughters Brenda Childers and Judy Flowers, both of Elyria; and 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Baxter and Lula Mae Hale; and sisters Alice Joy and Betty Stovall. Friends may call Monday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria, where services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Gene Collings will officiate. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Carlisle Township. Memorial contributions may be made to Jesus Christ Comminty Church, 1420 S. Abbe Road, Elyria, OH 44035
